Heard of the term 'Bangalored'. In the west getting bangalored means your job is getting outsourced to India. Yes, Bangalore is the number one IT/ITES destination in India. Its not the biggest of Indian cities, just one of the ten big cities in India, but bangalore's growth in IT has made it a familiar term all over the world. Its reached there because of the sheer hardwork of those millions of software professionals, their dedication and the quality. They charged much less than their western counterparts, but produced better software solutions than anyone else around the world. Bangalore has a number of enterprenueurs too who made it big during the last 10-15 years.
During the last few years its the turn of BPO's. Many of them were startups but soon big MNC's started their own units. Soon the jobs increased and bangalore started growing faster. Is Bangalore bigger than Silicon Valley?
Bangalore has many world leading companies today like IBM, Accenture, Oracle, Dell, Microsoft, Cognizant, HP, Perot systems etc. They coexist and compete with Indian biggies like Wipro, Infosys, TCS, HCL etc.
Major BPO companies incude Dell, AOL, Wipro, Progeon, Aviva etc.
